Horses, Gates and Change

Don’t wait until the horse has bolted to shut the gate. That’s an old colloquialism too often ignored.

Even a casual reading of the news shows that our air traffic control system is woefully out of date, maybe by 40 or 50 years.

I read a partisan comment that said the last administration should have fixed it.

I beg to differ. One of the last 10 administrations–any of them–should have fixed it.

But they didn’t. And we usually don’t change personally or organizationally before it is far too late.

We kick the rock down the road, waiting for another time, person or cirscumstance to do what needs to be done.

Leaders change before survival necessitates it.

Leaders change before they have to.

Leaders are willing to take responsibility when it is still an option, not a mandate.

What needs changed in your business now? What might give you a preemptive edge if you addressed it before it became critical.

Change before not changing ruins your day, or your business.
